Attended: Douglas Alden, Cheryl Alden, Roger Boyd, and Sgt O’Boyle.

  • Updates from the City – none reported, Dan Goldberg not in attendance
  • Notes from the Solana Beach Joy Ride
    Lightly attended event.  40 or so riders many from SDCBC and other advocacy groups,  Over 500 people read the notice on Facebook.  Have interest from someone who attended the ride to do PR for our next event.
  • International Walk to School Day (9 October)
    Skyline and Solana Vista participating.  Earl Warren given notice.  Solana Vista will be handing out freebies to walkers and riders.
  • Fall Bike Rodeo at Skyline (9 November)
    Sheriff would like to be included.  Contact Henry Tirado and cc O’Boyle.
  • City of Solana Beach Community Grant Program
    Shoot for $2000-$3000.  WalkSanDiego program with Middle School Students.  Funding for Rodeos.
  • Saturday 12 Oct 2013 is Regional Walk Day to kick off WalkSanDiego BestWalk data collection effort.  BWS will lead a walk on Sunday, Oct 20 at 11AM starting at the train station.  Data can be collected through 25 Oct.  Sheriff mentioned that Encinitas has a website called Let’s Move Encinitas.

  • Roger brought up Solana Beach Homeowner’s Group (SHAG) meeting on 16 Oct 6:30 to 8PM at Lomas Santa Fe Country Club.  One item on the agenda is pedestrian and bicycle activity.
  • Mentioned the cargo bike class at Velo Hangar.  Raised the issue of transporting kids on bikes with the Sheriff and described Laurel’s pullovers.  Sheriff asked if kids were wearing helmets.  I suggested that it might be an opportunity for education.
