Present at the Zoom meeting were Douglas Alden, Kristin Brinner, Jill Cooper, Paul Dickstein, Dan Goldberg, Shawna McGarry.
We are pleased that our Bicycle Friendly Community, Silver Designation has been renewed. There will be a press release and a celebration at an upcoming City Council meeting, perhaps on June 28 or July 12. As of July 10, this has not been scheduled. Dan King is our contact person. In addition to BikeWalkSolana members and Solana Beach residents, members of the Chamber of Commerce and local bike shop owners would be invited.
Bike Share in Solana Beach
Discussions about a coastal cities bike share program have started and stopped for the last several years in Solana Beach. Douglas mentioned that Montreal has a well-run program that tourists like which many drop-off points throughout the city.
Bike Month Events
BikeWalkSolana events including the Community Ride (40 rode) and the Scavenger Hunt were well received (registered: 130; completed: 48 adults, 11 youth). We thank local bike shops Pedego Solana Beach, Revolution, San Diego Electric Bike, Epic Cycles, and Cal Coast Adventures for supporting these events with donated prizes. This year Pedego Solana Beach donated half the cost of insert name of type of a Pedego e-bike as a grand prize for the Scavenger Hunt completion raffle won by Solana Beach resident Mac.
The May 18 Bike Anywhere Day, sponsored by SANDAG and the San Diego Bike Coalition included a pit stop at San Diego Electric Bike and points south.
